Bonhams Auctioning 3.0 CSL, M1 Coupe From BMW's Corporate Collection

Looking for a perfect BMW 3.0 CSL or M1 to complete your collection of dream cars? You may want to talk with Bonhams, as the auction house will soon sell an example of each from BMW's own private collection.

Although BMW Classic, the corporate wing tasked with organizing and promoting the automaker's history, has been around for decades, the sale of these two pieces marks the organization's push to interface with customers on new levels. The Classic center recently oversaw the restoration (and modification) of a 1972 3.0 CSi for a client, but the branch is planning to actually sell vehicles directly to customers.

"Buying and selling classics is as much a part of our new range of services as is the consignment of classics and advice on buying," says Karl Baumer, the director of BMW Classic. "The auction of these two automobiles is our first move in that direction."
